Gil Scott-Heron's post-crack comeback album.
You can stream the whole thing now before it’s out. Definitely worth a listen.
Wu Tang vs. The Beatles - Enter the Magical Mystery Chamber
It’s no Grey Album, but it’s still pretty fantastic. Sounds like the Beatles songs were “covered,” so to speak, rather than just sampled and mixed.
Raekwon's album, 15 years in the making, leaks!
I haven’t listened yet, but judging from the list of guest MCs and producers on this album, there’s no way it can be anything but great. You know where to find it…
MC "Random" uses Mega Man for beats.
And unlike a lot of chip music which is just fun for the novelty, this dude is actually really good!
Ice Cube Flow Chart
In the tradition of hip hop charts comes this amazing flowchart where you can figure out if you’re gonna have a good day (according to Ice Cube’s criteria).
Q-Tip - The Renaissance
I’m on my third glass of wine and I’m listening to a hip hop album I’m really enjoying right now. So any attempt at explaining why I like it would surely result in a nonsensical string of caps-locked superlatives and swear words that could not and should not ever be taken seriously. Something like:
> FUCK. FUCKING FUCK! THIS IS SO FUCKING GOOD. HOLY SHIT. I can’t believe how good this album is! Album of the year? BEST HIP HOP ALBUM OF THE DECADE?! THE FUTURE OF HIP HOP! MY FAITH IN THE GENRE RESTORED! ALL HAIL Q-TIP! SHIT! FUCK YOUR ASSFACE!
So I’m not going to do that. Instead I’m just going to tell you that you should maybe go listen to this album cause it’s really enjoyable and maybe you’ll like it, too. Note the tags.

While we're on the subject of hip hop...
People like this infuriate me. I read this last week but forgot to post it. Link after the jump.
Hip-hop & Rap: What Should I Get?
So I’m giving Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter III a try. Despite being absolutely gangsta, a few of the tracks have melancholy tones and a certain poetry-reading-style delivery, plus there’s a lot of wordplay.
And so, I’m in the mood to finally add some hip-hop/rap to my library. I’m pretty sure I posted something like this years ago, but who cares!
Currently, I have:
Lupe Fiasco’s The Cool
Notorious B.I.G.’s Life After Death and Ready To Die
Hip Hop
I know that a lot of you might not like hip hop or like something you think might be hip hop…
