1. Does anyone go here anymore?
2. Does anyone know anything about drying peppers?
My band played this open mic in Philly over the weekend as a sort of “paul shaffer and the cbs orchestra” of the event.
I decided to do some stand up myself. It wasn’t nearly as terrifying as I thought it would be and people laughed when they were supposed to laugh.
Has anyone on here ever done, or wanted to do it?
Ok, well, see, my brother in law, our own Kevin V, has a set of parents who’ve done pretty well for themselves. And they looooove their grandkids. So we watched as the aforementioned grandkids grew up and were showered with toys and games and anything and everything made for kids. They had a whole room in their basement with floor to ceiling shelves just full of kid’s crap that was rarely if ever used or played with. It put the fear in us. So when Gosia was pregnant with Ruby, we made it clear we didn’t want our various family members to shower us with crap — books and clothes are fine, thanks. So, Kevin being the professional troll he is, took delight in threatening us with all their hand-me-downs.
Backing up a bit, one of the the particularly absurd toys the kids got and never used, is Kota, the animatronic triceratops.

What do 6 & 3 year olds have to say about Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band? I bet Kevin V is dying to find out.
I feel like a lot of legit albums have garbage songs on them that you have to skip and that just ruin the flow completely. Trav and I have had this conversation a lot – what is the song you hate the most on an album you love?
I ended up responding to a post of Britt’s over on Facebook and thought it was worth reposting here. My biggest requirement for a cover is that you have to make it your own. There are lots of great covers, like, say, Smashing Pumpkins doing Landslide, that are just, y’know, dude with a guitar. The song didn’t really take on any new life there, and there’s no stamp of ownership left afterwards. My Top 15, below, are all versions wherein the coverer, in my mind, took possession of the song and truly made it their own. In every instance below, I’d rather listen to the cover than the original.

I’m sure most of you have read about Thom Yorke and Nigel Godrich pulling some music off a spotify as a form of protest. I’ll spare you the details since a million other sites have already covered it. Do any scrabbled musicians or fellow music purchasers have an opinion about this either way?
Any of TheScrabbled-ites running 5K’s, Tough Mudder’s or anything similar this summer? Or, if you’ve already run one, what was your experience like?
So, If I have an old(ish) I pod and I want to drag the music from it to my mac.
Anyone know how I can do this?
Last week I got the chance to try out for Jeopardy, and it occurred to me that some of you might be at least a little interested in what goes on at an audition. Here is what happened to me! It is so, so many words. I’m sorry. Also, I’m dispensing with that exclamation point at the end of the show’s name right now. It makes everything look insane.
So we are a quarter way into this year and i think it has started really well.
These are some of my picks of the year, so far. Some you will know, some you may not.
My way, way overdue list. I wasn’t even going to do one this year considering just how little new music I listened to last year, but I’ve found myself repeatedly going back and referring to old lists and I figured I should put this here just for my own reference. So read on for my favorites from last year, and by all means, add your own.
The season is almost upon us and once again its time for us Scrabbled-ites to make our annual baseball predictions, or you can sit on the sidelines and laugh at our silly shenanigans as we explain how we are right and everyone else is wrong.
I’ve been debating something for a few weeks about how to handle old Scrabbled content once we move over to the new platform, which is steadily under way, and I’d appreciate your feedback. Read on for the details.
Soooo Trish, Paris, and I (and Ryan soon?) have been playing the hell out of this game League of Legends, which has been around for years but only just released a mac client. It’s sort of a Warcraft 3/Diablo 2 meets Team Fortress 2 style game, where you are on a team of 3 or five with a top-down point-and-click interface where you pick a guy who has 4 main abilities and duke it out with another team in a capture-the-flag style battle.
It’s…. Really…. REALLY…. good. You should check it out: http://na.leagueoflegends.com/
It’s a free game, which is nice, and they surprisingly do NOT beat you over the head with microtransactiony bullshit or punish you for not spending money.
If anyone’s interested, friend me. My char name is Blue Kalyx.
Over at Bill’s Board, Bill brought up that it’d been five years since we last listed our favorite songs, and wondered how much the lists had changed, if any. So I ask the same of you guys.
Here’s the original thread: http://www.thescrabbled.com/posts/59060-Post-Your-1-Favorite-Songs-of-All-Time?page=1
What’s still there for you? What’s changed or different? Read on for the hyperbolic and overly colorful novella that is my list.
What can I say? I drank four martinis and clicked next five times. Didn’t see one item worth having.
What are everyone’s thoughts on crowdfunding? The movie based on the TV show Veronica Mars has reached it’s goal of 2 million dollars in 8 hours. I donated, but that’s beside the point.
…so I don’t get another $850 auto repair bill.
I need to learn how to maintain a car better. The link below heads to a post on /r/auto, but I’m wondering if you guys have any advice as well.
Reposted after the jump in case you can’t hit reddit at work or whatever.
I just finished reading Kitchen Confidential, Ready Player One, Redshirts and The Hunger Game series. What is everyone else reading? Is there anything out there that is a must read?
this was a website people visited and wrote stuff on. do you?
Still waiting for Star Command to come out and looking for some other space management game to fill my time.
So, have you guys played FTL? What do you think?
So Netflix has a pretty good documentary called Indie Game: The Movie. I highly recommend it. It’s a pretty entertaining look at the lives of a few indie game developers as they go through the motions of developing and or releasing out their games.
The two games followed and sort of contrasted in the doc are Super Meat Boy and Fez, both of which I’d been aware of but never paid much attention to when they were released. After watching the doc, I finally went and bought both games and man, they are so good. So so good.

I have finally started playing Left 4 Dead (2) on PC. I am basically awful, despite my rich history of playing the first one on the Ecks Boks Three Sixty a lot. I beseech you to be my Steam Fraaaaaand and help me get better at PC FPS games after a twelve year hiatus. On the Steamz, I am called “silentkit” and I am awful.
